US feels the urge to establish ties with Iran, Irna

Tehran, Jan 7, IRNA -- Head of Expediency Council (EC) Akbar Hashemi
Rafsanjani said here on Wednesday that the US proposal to send a
high-ranking delegation to Iran marks the urge felt by the US
administration for establishment of mutual ties.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of the Armed Forces 23rd
Quran recitation contests at the IRGC Headquarters, he noted that
resumption of ties needs time.

"The US administrators should admit that their approach towards
the Islamic Revolution has been wrong," he added.
Turning to the difficulties and disastrous position of the MKO
members in the world and their various treacheries in the past 25
years, he said that at present they are not allowed to stay either in
Iraq or in a number of other countries.
He said that the US is destined to bear the consequences of
the dilemmas encountered by the ousted MKO members.
Rafsanjani praised the attempts of the Armed Forces personnel
towards reading the Holy Quran and the participation of 26,000
individuals in the Quranic contests.
"The attraction of the Armed Forces personnel to Quran
can warn the Islamic Revolution`s enemies and make them ponder over
the reason for such an appeal, while the military personnel in other
countries take pride in possessing modern armament.
"The promotion of Quranic instructions and compliance with them
helps boost the morale of the Armed Forces as well as their
resistance and forbearance," he added.
The EC head said that studying Quran by the Armed Forces
personnel might be acceptable to some people as a theory, adding that
the positive impact of the move has been witnessed in the battle field
and during the eight-year sacred defense.
"The military forces fought the foreign intruders, who had
launched an attack against our homeland to annihilate the Islamic
Revolution, and by relying on the Holy Quran succeeded in repelling
them miraculously.
"It should be noticed that their patriotism and resolve to
defend their land also played a decisive role in their success," he
reiterated.
The EC head underlined that what occurred during the Iraqi-imposed
was owing to the morale developed by the Quranic training of the
military forces.
He pointed out that the nations acting in line with Quranic
concepts are among the most elevated.
"We launched the revolution by relying on the Holy Quran and
managed to handle domestic affairs in the post-revolutionary era
and during the eight-year sacred defense," he concluded.
In the ceremony, 14 selected contestants were lauded and awarded.
