Gooya News - After two week of arrests and detentions of political activists and journalists, Fars News agency released a set of "confessions" from Amir Hossein Mahdavi a member of the Mousavi campaign.

"confession projects" have been a common accuarance in Iran since the start of the Islamic revolution. At the time person in question would confess to his wrong doings and would ask forgiveness and in some cases would ask to be punished.

These confessions have since morphed into more elaborate far-fetched from truth productions, where the confessor tells the story - conspiracy's involving agents spies... stories that have been pushed by government backed news sources such as, Fars News, National TV Radio/IRIB, and Resalat newspaper.

Generaly once released victims in question retract their statements and say that it had been taken under emotional and phyisical intimidation to be used for propaganda purposes

It is reported that victims are kept in rooms with no color, under sleep deprivation, long repeated interrogations, drugged, and as a last resort officials use physical torture* to get the confession results they are looking for.

*Harsh physical torture is believed to be used in only rare occasions as Iranian Authorities are aware that they will need to release most of the detainees past their confessions.
