Tehran, Nov 22, IRNA -- First Vice-President Mohammad-Reza Aref in a
telephone conversation with Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan on
Saturday, condemned recent terrorist attacks in Turkey.
According to Press Bureau of Presidential Office, Aref stressed
the importance for a global consensus on the fight against the ominous
phenomenon of terrorism and called for extensive cooperation of
regional states in this regard.
He said Iran is among major victims of terrorism in the world and
expressed hope that Islamic countries would expand further cooperation
in order to confront terrorism seriously and take strong strides in
this regard.
"Iran seriously follows up recent events in neighboring country
(of Turkey) and is ready to cooperate with regional countries for
fundamental fight against this phenomenon," Aref stressed.
Erdogan, for his part, appreciated the Iranian nation and
government for their sympathy with the Turkish government and nation
over terrorist attacks in Istanbul and said Turkey is also a victim
of such attacks being made in the name of religion.
Pointing to the killing of several Jewish and Muslim nationals
during recent attacks in Turkey, he said Ankara condemns any attacks
on defenseless and innocent people under whatever pretext.
The prime minister stressed establishment of a security commission
by the two countries and outlined various dimensions of terrorist
attacks in the Middle East.
