Iran Quiet During Anniversary of Student Protests, VOA News

Tehran is reported quiet on the five-year anniversary of pro-democracy student protests in the Iranian capital.
Tehran University, which was the starting point of the protests that spread to several Iranian cities, was shut down Thursday.

On July 8, 1999, Iranian security forces raided a student dormitory following a peaceful protest. Many students were beaten and arrested, and some remain in prison.
