Iranian film screened in Int`l Filmex Festival in Japan, Irna

Tokyo, Nov 22, IRNA -- The Iranian film `Abjad` directed by Abolfazl
Jalili was screened in the inaugural ceremony of the Fourth
International Filmex Festival here on Saturday.

The film which narrates the life story of a young adult was
screened in the special film section in Asahi Hall.
Once the screening was over, Jalili appeared on the stage to
respond directly to the spectators questions.
He told one of the viewers that the life story of the film`s
main character is partially that of his own personal life.
The Iranian film director said that the concept of family is of
great significance to him and that he takes its disintegration quite
harmful to the community.
He referred to the International Filmex Festival as one
characterized by sincerity and friendship.
Another film from Jalili called `Delbaran` which was screened in
an earlier round of the International Filmex Festival in 2001 had won
the jury`s award.
Some 36 films from various countries are to be screened in the
ongoing festival, of which 11 are Iranian.
In the competition section, nine films will go on screen, of
which 11 are from Iran.
Also three Iranian films including one each by Babak Payami, Hana
Makhmalbaf and Parviz Shahbazi will also be screened in this section.
In the special film section, seven movies are scheduled to be
screened, one of which is Jalili`s `Abjad`.
Masoud Kimiai`s `Soil`, Dariush Mehrjouie`s `Postman`, a film by
Forough Farrokhzad, one from Nasser Taqvaie, Amir Naderi and Abbas
Kiarostami are the short and feature films to be screened in the
special film section.
