Iran is committed to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and at present will not close the door to negotiations, Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said here Sunday.
His remark was made to reporters at Mehrabad International Airport upon his arrival from New York, where he attended the 60th UN General Assembly session.
"The Islamic Republic will announce its stance on the resolution adopted by the (IAEA) governing board Saturday night within a few days," he added.
He said, "We insist on our sovereign rights and will use all diplomatic channels to defend these rights.
"The resolution adopted by the three European states (Germany, France, Britain) caters to a US pre-planned scenario and ignores the views of non-European members of the governing board.
"The EU-3 is disregarding the time-honored practice of the International Atomic Energy Agency's governing board of arriving at decisions by consensus.
"The three European states, by taking this politically and illegally motivated decision, show they are not committed to agreements made by them over the past two years."
Mottaki, moreover, reminded that the "matter of suspension of (uranium) enrichment and implementation (of the agreement) within the framework of the Additional Protocol in the past year was voluntary (on the part of Iran)."
"But the resolution has no legal basis and is completely unacceptable," he stressed.
The Iranian minister concluded, "Iran will not abandon its right to develop nuclear technology, including development of the fuel cycle for peaceful nuclear energy purposes guaranteed under the NPT."
