DAVOS, Switzerland -- Iran's president, facing a political crisis at home and doubts abroad about his country's nuclear ambitions, brought a message of hope and defiance Wednesday to the World Economic Forum, the annual meeting of political and business leaders.
In his remarks, Khatami was unequivocal in rejecting U.S. allegations that Iran is seeking nuclear weapons. Noting that his government had allowed U.N. inspectors to tour Iran's nuclear facilities, he said Iran's motives were peaceful.
